Summer Adventures You Can Go On With Your Dog

Summer is the perfect time to get out and explore with man’s best friend. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon in a local park or an adventure to explore new places, there are plenty of options for you and your dog to enjoy. In fact, it’s possible that the hardest part of these summer adventures is choosing the right one for you and your furry companion, especially if you just got your very first pup out from a local pet breeder. To help you out, we’ve compiled a small life of some great summer activities fit for almost any dog breed, from toy breeds like the Bichon Frise to more active breeds like Corgis.

1.   Dog Beach Day

If you have access to a nearby beach, this is always one of the best places to bring your pup! Many beaches have off-leash areas where you can let them run wild on the sand and take them out into the ocean if they like water. Just remember to keep an eye on them and never let them off-leash unless it’s specifically allowed. When planning a beach day outing for you and your dog, bring plenty of fresh water for drinking as well as towels for drying off afterwards.

2.   Camping Trips

Camping is an amazing way to spend quality time with your pup and explore nature together. You can go backpacking or just set up camp at a nearby campsite – either way, hiking trails, swimming holes and nighttime stargazing will provide you both with endless entertainment. Just remember that when camping, dogs must be kept on leashes at all times (unless there are designated off-leash areas). Make sure to bring along food and water, bowls, toys and anything else your dog might need while away from home. Also, be sure to follow camp rules and dispose of any dog poop responsibly.

3.   Go For a Hike

Hiking is one of the best ways for you and your pet to bond as long as you know how much exercise they can handle before getting too tired. Find some trails near you that allow dogs so that you can explore new areas together while getting in some good exercise! Before heading out, make sure to check the hiking trail or park’s regulations concerning pets, as some areas may not allow them. Once you’re set and ready to hit the trails, make sure that your pup is wearing a properly fitted harness or leash so they stay safe during the journey.

4.   Dog Park Fun

Taking your pup to the local dog park allows them to socialise with other four-legged friends while getting some good exercise – plus, it’s a great place for owners as well since there are usually picnic tables and benches where people can sit down and relax while their pup plays around. It’s also a nice opportunity to meet other dog owners and make new friends.

5.   Visit an Off-Leash Park

If there aren’t any dog parks around or if they get too crowded in the summertime, try looking for an off-leash park instead. These are usually larger areas where dogs are allowed to roam free without needing to be kept on their leash all the time (though supervision is still required).

6.   Play Frisbee or Catch

Playing catch or frisbee with your pet is not only fun but also helps build your dog’s confidence. This is a great option if you have a fenced yard where your pet can run free and still be safe. Try throwing different types of toys so that they don’t get bored quickly – popular options include tennis balls, rope toys, frisbees… anything that your dog is excited to chase after!

7.   Take a Road Trip Together

Road trips are always more fun when they involve our dogs. Bring along some treats so that they don’t get too restless during long car rides – just make sure that all stops include plenty of opportunities for bathroom breaks. It’s also a good idea to research veterinary services along your route, just in case you need emergency care for your dog.

Whether you choose one activity or combine several into one big summer adventure, just remember to keep your dog safe. Our pooches want nothing more than to be with us, so spending quality time outdoors with your dog this season will provide lasting memories that neither of you will ever forget.
