What Is a Pomsky?

A Pomsky is a type of designer breed dog which is due to them being a hybrid of a Pomeranian and the Siberian Husky. If you are on the market for a dog with a thick coat, then the Pomsky is the right match. Their thick coat makes it tolerable for them to be in cold weather than most dogs. However, due to their thick coat, they do shed quite a bit so you will need to brush them daily to minimize shedding. Due to their size, they don’t need a large space also they don’t have a tremendous need for exercise like other dogs. They recommend exercise for the Pomsky puppy is normally one walk per day. If you’re in Ohio searching for a dog that is quiet, then that’s not the case with a Pomsky. Pomskies are very vocal dogs if they aren’t trained properly. For them to be social with other dogs, you need to expose them at an early age to be social with people and dogs. Training a Pomsky isn’t that hard and they are sometimes very easy to train. Although some may inherit the stubbornness side from the Siberian Husky.

When Pomskies are for sale they do not get huge. Normally the max they will weigh 38 pounds when they are fully grown. Normally they will grow up to 15 inches and weigh anywhere from 7 to 38 pounds.

The normal lifespan of a Pomsky is normally 12 to 15 years which is a great life expectancy for a dog. Pomskies do however sometimes develop health problems. They are genetically predisposed to health conditions such as allergies, hip dysplasia, luxating patella, eye problems, epilepsy, heart disease, collapsing trachea, and skin problems. It is important to monitor the dog’s health and continue to go to a vet when the Pomsky needs to.

As mentioned, you will only need to take a Pomsky for a walk only once per pay. However, due to their high energy, they sometimes may need extra sessions to play before they calm down.
